Music students want to work with video students on film projects

Do you or someone you know  have a short film that you need music for? In UofSC School of Music, the advanced composition class wants to create movie scores.

We have an opportunity in early April to project it with live music in a concert setting at the School of Music. Preferably something ready or at least near completion, or something that can be put together fast. The class, taught by Sonia Jacobsen, just completed an exciting silent movie score which was performed live at the Nickelodeon. Now some of the students want to do more film scores.

I’m sure they’re open to brainstorming, but here’s one idea that was discussed. These composers are a very talented bunch.

The music students would compose and perform a song―the genre could be classical, jazz, whatever―and then our students would shoot video (and edit the video) to match the song. These music video collaborations could also be performed at the School of Music.

If you want to work with music students, please email Sonia Jacobsen at <sjacobsen@mozart.sc.edu>
