Thank you to those of you who lent opinions and support for my photo exhibition. The opening in the OTHER Columbia went great. It was very meaningful to go back home, so to speak, to a town where I had worked and gone to school.
For the curious, here is a link to a Flckr page with photos chosen by the curators.
And here is a link to the article the Columbia Daily Tribune wrote about the show.
Exhibit info at Stephens College
Lots of old Columbia friends (and even some strangers!) came to the reception. It was great to see photographer Carole Patterson, Tribune Managing Editor Jim Robertson, and friends like Elzan and Roger McMurry, and Jean Neely. Oh yes, and my fabulous parents made the trip, too.
I spoke to 7 classes at Stephens, in addition to the lecture and reception. I also managed to pop into a class at the University of Missouri Journalism School, and help David Rees with a photo critique in his beginning photo class. I met so many students who asked great questions and showed a real interest in photography. Besides all that, I took in free music at the Roots, Blues and BBQ festival running last weekend. And I capped the weekend off with a visit to Roger and Elzan McMurry’s farm for smoked pork and home grown green beans. Good times.
